The small convoy halted at the small village's tavern, the village residents pouring in from market and farm alike to see the new visitors with their own eyes. Perhaps the most intriguing factor of the men that rode into town was the coat of arms and banner that they flew. It was not of the Kingdom of Liones but rather that of the Kingdom of Danafor and even more striking was the coat of arms at the center of each banner. This was not some plain Jane noblemen on an excursion to a neighboring kingdom, but that of a legend. It was the personal coat of arms of the Horseman of the Apocalypse, the aspect of punishment, and the punisher of Danafor - Alberdeen Horrickson.

Alberdeen swung his legs off the left side of his massive stallion, landing with almost no impact all. Pulling the hood of his travelling cloak off he surveyed the crowed that was growing around he and his men. His gray eyes scanned each and every one of them noting any and all oddities within them from noticeable slouches and birth defects to evident scars. When he assured himself that none of them presented any real threat that he couldn't handle with his bare hands. Turning his attention from the crowd to the tavern itself his face gave all the orders that his men needed to react. One man led the horses to a stable across the street, another accompanying the first to take inventory on the supplies, and a third moving to open the door for his lord. Shifting the massive ax on his back, Alberdeen stepped into the establishment and stood near the door allowing for his eyes to adjust to the darkness of his new environment. Taking a step in it would not take long for him to notice the silence that had befallen what had earlier had been a lively place. With a small smirk he would take his seat at a table that allowed for him to keep his eyes on door. Removing his ax and placing it on the table, he awaited to be served by an employee.

When he finally was waited on, his booming voice once again hushed the room. "I'll take mead, wench. And whatever food you've got cooked and for sale today." She would nod and walk away with Alberdeen saying "Thank you." With food and drink for his men on the way, he sat upright in his seat awaiting for whatever could be coming next.

Ever since he returned to Liones, the only place Ares ever went was none other than his favorite tavern, the Wild Boar Tavern. The reason? They simple had the best food and booze in the whole world, according to his taste. He was friends with the boss, and the staffs are kind to him. Plus, he had met a few friends because of this tavern, so that's why he loved this place so much. However, the place had changed exponentially from the time he arrived until now. The drastic changed happened in just a matter of days. After getting rid of the trouble, the tavern quickly rebuilt itself, both the building and its reputation, and bam! It's currently the bustling place it is right now.

As he was enjoying his daily doze of beer, the door of the tavern opened, and in a matter of seconds, the whole tavern was silent. Huh? What? , thought Ares. Why would the whole rowdy tavern just suddenly go silent? Curiously, Ares placed his mug down and turned around. The light from door blinded him for a second. Instinctively, he used his hands to block out the light, and he could see a huge man entering the room. This man was at least 2 meters tall, and he had a very bulky stature. As the man entered, he could see another man holding the door for him, which showed that this man got huge some wealth, authority, or is from a royal bloodline. Upon entering the place, he chose a table for himself and revealed a huge axe, which he placed on the table. Suddenly, Ares' Power Sensory triggered, and he could tell that this guy was someone strong.

After he made his orders to the waitress, Ares finished whatever was left in his mug and stopped the waitress that took his order before she entered the kitchen. "Make it two mead." After that, he proceeded to make his way to the man's table. Acting carefree, Ares made his way to the man's table and took the seat opposite of him, saying, "Hello! I've never seen you around here before. Are you new here? The name's Ares! What's your name?"

Alberdeen's left eyebrow would perk as the stranger approached him. A quick gesture with his left hand dismissed his men whom were preparing to draw their weapons and jump into a fight. However, that was not necessary and Alberdeen had not come into another country to start a fight with it citizens or to damage their property. Rather, Alberdeen would lean over the table hands interlocking before his face as he studied the man inquisitively. He was either ballsy, brave, or stupid to randomly approach an escorted stranger, but none the less - Alberdeen was interested in having a local to talk to.

"Ares? Strange to meet someone with a name steeped in Greek roots. Though, I mean no offense is meant. I am Alberdeen Horiksson, of the Kingdom of Danafor. Not many people have the gall to approach me Ares. I suppose that's a sign of character. You're welcome to join us, for now." By this point, the waitress arrived carrying a tray with what had been cooked by the establishment earlier and the mead that Alberdeen and Ares had ordered. As if on queue, the two men whom had been taking care of the horses and inventory stepped in. Taking a seat on either side of their lord, they begin to dig in. Inventory and horses could wait, his men were hungry and he had a thirst he needed to sate. Taking a large gulp from the wooden tankard, his eyes would remain on Ares the entire time.

"Anything interesting going on around these parts, Ares? I do not frequent this land often so the news and recent happenings here often elude me. I have been meaning to catch up if you do not mind filling me in."

As he approached Alberdeen, the men around him started drawing their weapons and got into a battle position. Ares smiled, as he could sense their power easily, and found out that they aren't as strong as the man in front of him. Ares left himself open, knowing that he could take out each of them with ease. Sadly, Alberdeen gave them a swift gesture and they soon withdrew their weapons, though they still maintained a suspicious look on their face. As the man leaned over and interlocked his fingers, he stared at Ares, seeming to be analyzing him. Ares also decided to take his time to analyze the man.

The man soon replied, commenting on his name. Ares smiled at his comment. The man introduced himself as Alberdeen from Danafor. His last few statements on Ares approaching him made him spread his lips into a smile. "I got to say, you're the first guy to ever notice that my name is of Greek roots. Nice to meet you, Alberdeen. Danafor huh? I've been there a few times to pay homage to the Temple of Danafor. A very beautiful place, indeed. Reminds me of my Greek origin every time I see it. In fact, I was charged to defend Danafor from the invading Barbarians, to protect the Temple of Danafor. You can say my team did a great job, as the Temple still stands as magnificently as ever. Seeing your figure and those "guards", I assume you are one of the Holy Knights, if not part of the Harbringers? You simply cannot be a royal figure, as your powers are...off the charts, it seem. Is that why you're surprised to see me join you?"

Ares was soon interrupted by the waitress who brought a tray full of food and drinks. Alberdeen's guard soon sat beside their master and immediately indulged themselves with the food, as if they had not eaten for a long time. Alberdeen soon helped himself with some mead. Ares, too, followed Alberdeen by taking a sip, hoping to break the awkwardness. I mean, wouldn't it be awkward to sit there silently as everyone is occupied with eating or drinking?

Ares' wish was soon fulfilled as Alberdeen inquired about the current state of Liones. Placing his wooden mug down, Ares proceed to reply, saying, "Hmm, Other than the death of the King, nothing much. Well, I guess that means the Seven Deadly Sins are now free to do whatever they want, which I guess they got that going for them, which is nice. Well, Liones is having some trouble economically. I've just been here a few days ago, that's all I know from the gossips here. Though, with the King gone, many weird incidents have been occurring, and the Seven Deadly Sins have not acted. Maybe it hadn't reached their ears, so I guess I'm obligated to head off to investigate."

Alberdeen brushed aside the question as to what part of the Danaforian military he was a part of, a man should not play all his cards at once he reminded himself. Continuing to drain his tankard of its contents, he listened as Ares informed him of the happenings in the Kingdom. The King of Liones was dead, meaning that Liones was is no better of a position than his home of Danafor. Between the wars and blights, Danafor was sailing in rough waters though with the right amount of pushing the weather could be dispersed.

" So.. The Seven Deadly Sins of Liones are currently without any sort of handler. Quite a bit of power to be found in their ranks without any sort of leash Ares. That could potentially develop into some problematic situations. A coup, a regime change... all these possibilities hinging on a small group of people. Hm." Alberdeen would grunt, becoming lost in thought of all the rogue variables that could sparks schisms between the shaky peace of the various kingdoms. However this rampant thinking was brought to a close as a bar maid spoke to a group of men at the table next to him. "It is a shaky world we live in. Troublesome times I'm afraid."

One more large swig of the tankard and he depleted it's contents. Wiping his mouth with gauntlet covered hand, he resumed his inquisitive posture once more. "How are the people reacting the loss of their King? From what I recall and the brief time I met him he was a very kind man. Benevolent, just. A man fit for the crown." Though, Alberdeen could tell from the solemn look of the men and women as he spoke how the news of his passing had affected him. "Do they know what killed him?" This was an interesting matter and one of great importance. Political interests should be left to the fat assed bureaucrats and politicians but things that could involved war involved Alberdeen.

Ares noticed that when the man replied, he ignored his question regarding his rank. Well, Ares smiled. Heh, he's trying to hide his rank huh? It's either he holds a high rank there, or he's just forgetful. I'm going with high rank. Ares then leaned back on his chair and folded his arms, listening to the man's reply.

The man gave his analysis on the current situation of Liones. He talked about the unchained Seven Deadly Sins, whose leader was none other than the king. Al even came up of the possibilities that could result in all this. Well, It's kinda true. Many things could happen. Without the king's protection, the people might ask for the disbandment of the Seven Deadly Sins, since no one feels secured being protecting by ex-murderers.

"Well, you're right, all of those could happen, since no one would feel safe being protected by ex-criminals. People's heart aren't always ready for change. They're stubborn, stubborn people that isn't ready to forgive. The people are sad about the king's death. The King, was indeed a great man. I returned after receiving word that he passed away, though I was too late for his funeral. Sadly, I do not know how he died. Most of the time when I ask, the crowd just turns silent and they try to change the subject. Anyways, enough of the people. I'm heading off to investigate something mysterious. Disappearing children. Wanna tag along?"

Alberdeen leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the table whilst he stared Ares down. Perhaps it was just coincidence or perhaps there was a leak in his company that had informed someone else for his reason for coming to Liones. He doubted that anyone in his retinue was stupid enough to betray him but he had to get to the bottom of it before he started decapitating heads. "Perhaps it is just coincidence. Or, perhaps it is even fate. The reason I am here is for what you just asked me to accompany for. Children have been..well had been disappearing in Danafor and the results of these disappearances were none to pleasing. Typically, such matters are handed out to bishops and templars but once a group of Danaforian Holy Knights were killed investigated I was dispatched." Alberdeen leaned in again, eyes roaming over the curious patrons of the tavern. He needed to be cautious, as loose lips could sink the strongest of ships.

" The disappearances stopped however, after the knights had fallen. I believe they fled, knowing it wouldn't be long until more men were dispatched in order to resolve the issue. I am pleased to know my assumptions were correct and that he fled to Liones. I will accompany you, Ares, and we will get to the bottom of this." Standing up, Alberdeen's men followed in suite as he approached the man whom ran and owned the establishment. In hushed towns, Alberdeen discussed the payment and asked for enough bedding and food to last his men for atleast a month. Alberdeen passed the man an apple sized object wrapped in lavish and expensive cloth before taking a step back and turning for the door. Any qualm the aging man had before vanished when he revealed the gem stone contents. An emerald the size of an apple, enough money there for him to close the tavern and live his life out in relative luxury. Though such an early retirement would have to wait.

"James, Reginald. You two will remain here and ensure that our rooms are held. However, James fetch your horse." Alberdeen signalled to Ares, requesting him to follow the party outside. "Ares here will be borrowing your steed James, I will ensure that he brings her back in the same state she was in when she left. Ares, let us be on our way. The sooner we defeat this menace, the sooner the people can return to a sense of normality." Placing his foot into the stirrup, Alberdeen swung himself into position on the back of his horse, Thanes. "Lead the way."

Ares picked his mug up as he listened to Alberdeen. He stared into the mead inside the mug, and stared hard into the mug while listening, as he thought about it. This news by Alberdeen indeed changed everything Ares thought it was. Ares thought it would've just been mischievous fairies bringing children off to another realm to play, as it had happened many times during his travels. To think that the situation would be this dire. Ares took a sip of the drink and continued listening. What? Even the Holy Knights of Danafor had fallen due to this event? Surely this is not just a mere coincidence.

Ares placed his mug down after a big gulp and replied, saying, " Alberdeen. This is the first I've heard about this. To think that the situation is this serious. What is happening? Why childrens? Surely adults would be a better choice, no? I mean, if they can kill Holy Knights, they could easily capture the healthy, strong adults, right? I think this isn't just a normal slave trade. It must be something far worse. I believe that this is indeed fate, that I would meet you. If Holy Knights had been slained, I wouldn't stand a chance against them, I think. Nevertheless, two is better than one. Thank you for considering to help me."

After this, Alberdeen went to the tavern owner, and after some hushed exchange of words, Alberdeen pulled out a sack, probably coins, and passed it to the tavern owner. The tavern owner soon revealed the contents of the pouch, and damn, Ares would've used his ability to snatch that huge green gem away if it weren't for Al. After that, Alberdeen gave orders to his two men to stay put until he return. As for the third men, he asked him to prepare the horse. Oh, is James his trusted partner who will be accompanying us on this quest? Before Ares could comment on it, Al revealed that he would borrow the horse from James for Ares. Listening to Alberdeen, he smiled and replied, saying, "Definitely, My lord" He then hopped on to the horse and pulled out its reins before galloping down the street. He was sure Alberdeen would be able to catch up to him easily, and therefore he went on full throttle.
